The Beauty of Dawn
Marcell & Riva saying yes
I couldn't help but suggesting them to catch the very first ray that peeks through the dews.

I used to be an old-fashioned morning person. I enjoyed sipping my coffee before the sun rose then mopped the floor as soon as it did. Went to work before dawn because the bride make-up started at 4:30 am was a piece a cake for me. Ever since I moved to Bali, I am a bit spoiled. Most Bali weddings won't start until it's the perfect timing for sunbathing. But that's not the main reason I started a habit of letting the sun up first. My bouncy baby girl is. As much as my infinite love to her, I have to admit that taking care of that giggly little nugget without any sitter/maid absorbs an enormous amount of energy.

I cheered the day Riva & Marcel agreed to have their pre-wedding shoot at Kintamani. I've never shot there before and I was excited. As a big fan of natural light, I couldn't help but suggesting them to catch the very first ray that peeks through the dews. Which means, I had to wake up at 2 am and go for 4 hours drive up to the mountain.

It was a bit of struggle, I admit, to obey my alarm clock when the baby was still giggly past 10 the night before. But my excitement overflowed, and after much of winding road, we arrived at Kintamani, only to find thick fog surrounded everyone with nothing else to see. I tried to conceal my broken heart quietly... but then, there! There was the first ray we were expecting, peeking through the dews. And followed by another, and another, and another, until the warm sun slowly rose up and defeated the entire layers of fog. Boy, it was beautiful.

Suddenly my energy raised to the top bar. Inspiration flowed continuously. I jumped up and down and every corners seemed like a perfect spot. Realizing there were still much to explore in our next itinerary, we packed up and went to Ubud Market, where vibrant colours and intriguing details were spreading all over the place. We also covered this vintage looking restaurant that has sewing machines hanging on its wall, before finally made it to the beach to embrace the gorgeous dusk with sparks of orange in between clouds. We genuinely thanked God for the very friendly sun today.

I drove home when the stars dotted the sky. My wife and baby had drift off to their dream castles, and I kissed their cheeks. Regardless how tired I was after a full moon-meets-moon day of working, I couldn't close my eyes to sleep. I was having so much fun and I had this uncontrollable euphoria! I couldn't wait to post my first pre-wedding blog. Now here, my chance is finally arrived. I hope you enjoy the result as much as I do.

Cheers,

Adi.
