As a photographer, I’m often handed shot lists or given specific frames to capture. But with Dominic and Bernice, it was different. From our very first conversation, they were clear about what mattered most. They didn’t want perfectly posed portraits. They wanted presence, genuine connections, and a sense of liveliness. For them, beauty lived in unfiltered laughter and the raw emotions shared with the people they love most.
Their wedding was grand, yet incredibly personal. A two-day celebration, beautifully curated by experts, set against the stunning backdrop of Soori Bali.
The first day was a relaxed welcome dinner by the sea. Guests arrived from around the world and were greeted by warm light, tropical charm, and casual cocktails under the stars. There were speeches, laughter, and a completely unplanned pool jump that set the tone for the weekend. I knew right away this was the perfect crowd to capture.
The second day moved at a gentler pace. The morning was quiet and unrushed. The garden ceremony, with the ocean just beyond, felt sacred in its simplicity. The reception followed, glowing with chandeliers, candlelight, and moments that felt timeless. Fireworks filled the sky, but what stayed with me most were the expressions on people’s faces.
There were challenges too. Dominic had sprained his ankle the day before, so we moved carefully. But even that revealed something beautiful, how calm, present, and grounded they remained.
What stood out for me wasn’t the perfect setting or the stunning styling. It was the honesty, and how they made room for what truly mattered. Perfection was never the goal, yet somehow, it was found in every frame. That is what I’ll remember.
Will.
