The Love We Give | Richard & Martha’s Bali Wedding Story

One of the most beautiful parts of being a wedding storyteller is that we’re often surrounded by love. Over time, it becomes second nature to recognize it. Sometimes, it’s through words. Other times, it reveals itself in glances, chemistry, and all the small, natural gestures in between.

For Richard and Martha, that seems to have been there from the very beginning. When they first started dating, they would apparently argue over who got to take care of the other more, even down to who would pay for dinner. Nine years later, that same instinct was still easy to see on their wedding day.

Their chemistry carried the familiarity of two people who have grown alongside each other. There was the kind of comfort that comes from knowing someone deeply. And as their wedding unfolded at Alila Villas Uluwatu, what became especially beautiful to witness was how their love seemed to extend far beyond the two of them.

Throughout the celebration, family became an important part of the story. Martha’s sister described her as someone generous, loving, and present. And instead of following the tradition of tossing her bouquet, Martha chose to give it to her mother, honoring the woman who had given so much of herself without ever asking for anything in return.

Even in Richard and Martha’s words to each other, that same idea kept returning. They spoke of friendship, care, comfort, and simply being there for one another. After nine years together, their love wasn’t simply something they felt. It had become something they gave.

And perhaps that’s what stayed with us most as we captured their Bali wedding. Because ultimately, the love we give has a beautiful way of becoming the love we receive.
