I will confess and admit that I’m a K-drama fan. I live for the moments of stolen glances, soft scenes, dreamy moods, and all that made it such a beloved genre.

Meeting Andrew and Jiye was a chance for me to relive all that. Not only because the bride was Korean and the groom Indonesian, but because their story had already been through so much, from college days to growing together across countries and time.

Their initial reaction was hesitation. Jie was naturally introverted, while Andrew was shy about the idea of being the “main lead.” I understood that and accepted that my little K-drama dream might be short-lived.

So we shifted the approach, letting them lead in their own natural way. I encouraged them to talk, to laugh, and simply be themselves. That was when the magic began.

Their natural chemistry took over. Unlike most couples who stiffen up on camera, they turned to each other with warm gazes and easy laughter, as if it were just another day together. It was the most authentic kind of love to capture.

There was no script and no acting, only a connection that flowed effortlessly. The way Jiye helped Andrew with his suit, the way he softly praised her, everything carried its own cinematic rhythm.

That was when I realized what makes a love story timeless. It’s not just the technique or the directing. It is love at its gentlest and most honest form, everything that is beautifully unplanned.

To frame the story, I added a few drone scenes to capture the setting, but the focus always stayed on them, two people who simply fit.

I remembered the joke Andrew told me that to master Korean like a pro, you should date the girl and not just learn through dramas. In the end, it became the perfect metaphor for their love story. Some lessons, just like love itself, are best learned through experience.

Wilson.
